Curation Tips For Google News (news.google.com)

🔍 1. Use Specific Search Queries 

• Combine keywords with quotation marks for exact phrases. 

• Example: "climate change" California wildfire 2025 

• Use the site: operator to narrow your search to a specific publication. 

• Example: AI breakthroughs site:nytimes.com 

2. Use Operator Codes 

• Use AND, OR, and - to fine-tune results: 

• "climate change" AND policy — must include both terms 

• "electric cars" OR "EVs" — either term 

• "cryptocurrency" -Bitcoin — excludes Bitcoin 

• Try using keywords like "report," "study," "2025," "analysis," "data" if you want more in-depth or academic-style coverage. 

🗓️ 3. Filter by Date 

• After searching, click the arrow in the search bar to get options on the timeframe for the articles. 

This gives you options like "Past 24 Hours" or "Past Week." If you're looking for articles published in the last 30 days, which we usually are, you can add this particular time limit to the search bar. Just add "when:30D" after the search term.

 

🧩 4. Use Google News Sections for Curation 

• You can use the menu at the top to refine your search. 

• World, Business, Technology, and other topics are listed there.

• These sections are often tailored to trending, relevant news.
