How to personalize your social copy in 3 steps:
Step 1: Read the social copy (and ideally the article, too).
Step 2: Jot down or take a mental note of ideas or associations you have with the topic.
Step 3: Personalize the copy, save, or share directly.
Three options for personalization (from 10 seconds for minimal personalization to 3 minutes minimum with a bit of training for deeper personalization):
-
“Spice it up” (easiest): Add a personal comment that sounds like you in front of the social copy: Examples: “Must read”, “Good article”, “Check this out”, “This is cool”, “This is a good one” (Hint: You don’t need to read the article for this)
-
“Rephrase” (medium): Re-write the social copy in your own words. You can include key words like the industry your serve or your ICP/targeted job title (Hint: You don’t need to read the article for this)
-
“Write your own” (most time needed): Based on the topic, write your own copy, either from scratch or using ideas from the wording provided by RFS. Consider: Why is this topic relevant for the industry you serve? For whom do you think this is relevant? Did you have a recent conversation about or experience with this topic? What are your own thoughts on this topic? What is the most interested aspect of the article from your perspective? (Hint: Reading the entire article is helpful. But not required in all cases)
Examples of personalization:
Based on this post:
Original social copy: Your sales team can have an even bigger impact on your company's bottom line if they adopt an entrepreneurial mindset. Collaboration, constant networking, and a willingness to pivot when needed are just a few of the ways a team member can bring more to the table. #Sales #Growth
(Personalization comments are in bold - please highlight them in a different color in the KB. It didn't let me do that in Asana)

“Spice it up”: Absolutely true, if you ask me. Your sales team can have an even bigger impact on your company's bottom line if they adopt an entrepreneurial mindset. Collaboration, constant networking, and a willingness to pivot when needed are just a few of the ways a team member can bring more to the table. #Sales #Growth
-
“Rephrase”: Sales managers, listen up! Does your sales team have an entrepreneurial mindset? This is a really good article about why it matters and how you can instill it in your team. #Sales #Growth #Leadership
-
“Write your own”: What makes the difference between a good sales team and a great one? This is something I recently discussed with a client of mine, who is Regional VP of Sales in a Fortune 500 company. Of course, there are many approaches, but what he said was: Hire sales people with an entrepreneurial mind. Just came across this article that expands on the same idea. Worth a read!
Try it out: Find a post in RFS that you think is relevant for your audience and personalize it.
