How to set up and use LinkedIn Mentions as a Front User

Please open this file for detailed knowledge: User LinkedIn Mention

LinkedIn mentions are how you @ or tag someone on LinkedIn and can now be used in ReadyForSocial when creating your Own Post or editing the copy of a curated post. You can tag both personal and company/organizational accounts.

To add LinkedIn Mention Organizations/Personal to your account:

To begin, log in on the front end of ReadyForSocial. Click on the avatar by your name for the profile drop-down menu, then click on LinkedIn Mentions:

On the LinkedIn Mentions page, click on Create Mention, then enter the LI profile URL of the organization. The LI organizational ID and the Organization Name will be automatically filled out. Now, click on the Create button.

For the personal accounts, fill out the boxes with LI Profile URL only. The LI Personal ID and LI Personal Name will be automatically filled out. Now, click on the Create button.

Now you can find the list of mentions you created. You can create multiple mentions in the system.

After adding your mention, it will need to be approved by an RFS employee

You can now type @CompanyName or @PeronalName in your Posts, and it will tag the company page or personal profile on LinkedIn when posted. You must add each company/individual you plan to mention before you can use this feature for a particular company.

To mention a company in an Own Post, type an @ sign in the copy, and the list of LinkedIn-mentioned organizations you have set up will appear as a drop-down. You can click and add the organization you are tagging.

If you find a problem with the mention you added, please contact the Account Manager. Mentions can only be edited on the back end of the RFS website.

Use Mention in Post:

1. To select a particular mention, the user should enter "@" and type some starting characters of the mention. Once the list appears, it can be selected using the arrow buttons or the mouse cursor.

2. It's advised to include a space before and after adding a mention.

3. After selecting the mention in the social copy, any spaces in the mention (if the display name contains spaces) will be removed. For example, if the user has a mention with the display name "Mark Wood". After selecting this mention, the mention will be shown in social copy like "@MarkWood".

4. The user cannot copy the mention directly from another post, the user should select the mention using @

5. Spaces should be present before and after a mention. If a word is added immediately after a mention without a space, the mention won't work. Similarly, if a word is added just before a mention without space, it won't be considered as part of the mention

6. To verify whether that mention has been added properly or not in the social copy, the user should check the following points:

A) mention should be shown in this format -
      @{displayName without space}

     Example: If the mentioned name is "Mark Wood", it should be shown in
the social copy as @MarkWood.

B) If mentioned show in social copy as below:

@[Mark Wood](urn:li:organization:11832)
[Mark Wood](urn:li:organization:11832)
@[Mark Wood](urn:li:personal:11832)
[Mark Wood](urn:li:personal:11832)
MarkWood

It means the mention has been added incorrectly in the social copy.

Special Characters

We have tested the following special characters with mention, and they are working fine: comma (,), dot (.), apostrophe (‘), and exclamation (!).
Example:  If the mentioned display name is MarkWood.

@MarkWood,
@MarkWood!
@MarkWood.
@MarkWood’s
