How to Improve Your Social Selling on LinkedIn

Wondering what you can do to increase your engagement on LinkedIn? Here are a few useful tips.

By engaging with others, they will see you liking their posts and want to reciprocate in kind. Believe it or not, this works like a charm.

A. Liking Posts...and More

  1. Look at your feed on LinkedIn. As you scroll down your feed, you'll see all the posts made by people on your network.

2. If you scroll over the "Like" key, you'll see you can actually do several things--like, celebrate, support, love, find insightful, or be curious about.

B. Commenting on Posts

You can also comment to elaborate on your reaction to the post.

1. To get even more engagement going, you may even want to tag someone in your comment or add a hashtag to draw attention to the post.

2. Remember to always be positive. These posts are public, so anyone can see them. When you write a comment, start with a positive statement. Then add a question. Why add a question? Because questions get answered, which drives even more engagement.

3. You can also add pictures or emojis to you comment by using the small icons at the bottom of the comment box.

C. Engaging with Executives

A lot of people want to interact with high-end executives, but those are the people who aren't talking or engaging online with their own content anyway. Here's a hack on how to possible engage with these hard-to-reach folks.

1. Instead of going to their personal page of the executive, search for their company in the search bar.

2. Use the strategies listed above to write a positive and engaging comment on one of the posts. Then tag one of their executives. This will notify not only the people responsible for the company page, but also that executive.

This helps drive engagement back to you and may just start a conversation.
